HOW TO CALCULATE % WEIGHT LOSS

We are in the final week of this 8 week fitness challenge.  Congratulations to all of you for sticking with it until the end.  You have all seen the weekly scores of the challengers, but the final factor in determining our winners is to add in your percentage of weight loss.

Using a percentage of weight loss we can more fairly compare how much each contestant has lost.  You will need to weigh yourself on Monday March 4th at the same time of day and wearing the same clothing you originally were when weighing yourself at the beginning on the competition.  You will then need to report to me before 9:00pm (eastern time) a percentage of your weight loss.

How to figure your percentage of weight loss

1.  Subtract your ending weight with your beginning weight to find how many pounds you lost.  Get this measurement as accurate as possible.

2. Divide the number of pounds lost by the starting weight.

3. Multiply the answer to step 2 by 100.

4. Report your score to the nearest hundredths place. 

Example:  If my beginning weight was 205.7 pounds and I lost 10.8 pounds, my percentage would look like this...

10.8 / 205.7 x 100 = 5.25%

You will receive 100 points for every full percentage.  The score 5.25% would receive 525 additional points added to their weekly total points.  Prizes are as follows:

1st place male $325

1st place female $325

2nd place overall $150

3rd place overall $80

In the event of a tie

If there is a tie for first place male, the prize money for first place male and 2nd overall would be combined and divided.  The prize money would be $237.50 for each.  Same amount if there was a tie for first place female. 

If there is a tie for 2nd place overall, then the prize money for 2nd and 3rd place would be combined and divided.  Each would receive $115.

If there is a tie for 3rd place overall, the prize money would be divided.  Each would receive $40.
